I THREW the bone from the leg of lamb out onto the driveway to see if the butcher birds would spot it. they did, but what i found interesting was the way the butcher bird and the magpie politely took turns. the maggie would sit on the wheelbarrow and wait, then the butcher would walk away from the bone while the magpie had a good chew. then he'd walk back and jump onto the wheelbarrow and the butcher bird would have his turn. over and over :0)
After a decade on the Murray/Darling confluence I've moved to the Bellarine Peninsula on Pt Phillip Bay. I've been so lucky to spend time with the fabulous birdlife and animals and the river itself, not to mention the warm and friendly people of the Sunraysia. Now i'll be close to family and old friends. My new home is surrounded by the bay and wetlands so there'll be much to discover
