HMMM, QUIETLY GOES MY LIFE

I'VE BEEN LAYING LOW - still waiting for the scopes at the epworth.  Have started a new project after giving up on Romeo and Juliet for a second time.  I just don't like any of those characters - it's been making me feel sick trying to get something out of it.

morning walk up to the pier, three gorgeous pelicans flew                overhead and took over the lights

                                  MY BEGONIA HAS GONE BERESK!!!

I'm not swimming much but a couple of afternoons i've been out around the wreck, it's beautiful out there and the birds just stay and watch me as i glide by

HAPPY TO SEE the crimson rosella discovering the birdbath in the backyard.  till now he's been inhabiting the liquidambar out the front, investigating the front lawn and nature strip and poking his head in the nesting box where the eastern rosella has been for the past couple of months.

I'VE FINALLY SORTED OUT THE SPARE ROOM spurred on by my dropping Romeo and Juliet again and pitching my idea for a book about my 10 years on the river, an account with photos, sketchbooks, etchings
I'm excited by it and Erica's said to go ahead and get something together to show them so this is now my writing room.  at some stage i'll get a day bed to go under the window for guests

HELLO MELBOURNE

GARDENING AND THE RACES

MELBOURNE CUP WEEK - sadly my trip to Wentworth was cancelled so I was home for Cup Day.  gardening all day and coming in and out to catch bits of the race broadcast with a champers or two or three.  Pretty boring coverage, very bloky with hardly any fashion.

CUP AFTERNOON SWIM AROUND THE OZONE

But we made up for it on Oaks Day when the Salties dressed up and went to the races in the water!! fab outfits, great and crazy hats, a big spread and two new visitors, Rodney from over the bay who dropped in on a bike ride and Lina, Sarah's new dog, a younger bouncier version of Lucy :0)

It was one of those amazing mornings when the water was like molten silver, the horizon barely visible.  crystal clear and just divine to be in.

I think Rodney got more than he bargained for  😄

GARDEN PROGRESS
everything is weeded and mulched :0)

FUNNY NOISY baby galahs high up in the tree next door

GARDENING - AT LAST!

THE PAST FEW DAYS  i've really got into the garden after being sidetracked by too many things - eco dyeing mainly.  Lots of mulching, planting the new plants i got for my birthday, two blueberries, a lemon myrtle and meyer lemon.  also two yellow flowering eucalypts if bought myself.  Outside my bedroom window my little private garden is taking shape.  it's so nice to have windows that go down to the floor.

my new lawnmower person arrived yesterday, Travis.  I'll miss Som and her very efficient work but she has a great new position managing the kitchen at St Leonards Bowls club. Travis dug me a couple of big holes for my new plants and says my soil is unbelievably good.  :0) The garden is looking great

NOVEMBER ALREADY

I CAN'T BELIEVE i've already lived here for sixteen months.  After getting the bathroom done and now having a good working studio space, I'm finally getting on to the garden.  Little by little.

Had a lovely weekend with Sunny, Luke and Etta.  lovely weather, a swim around the wreck, dinner at the great little Italian pizza place in Portarlington and time for Etta in the playground opposite. It was a lovely evening with a gorgeous full moon.

I'm still not swimming, this gastric condition persists but finally i'll see the docs at the hospital tomorrow. hope they do the scopes, i need to know what's going on.

I've been down to the bay for a few visits to take photos though, and we're still having our weekly knitting catch up at the shop.

THE EASTERN ROSELLAS are still around every day, i can hear the female scratching around in the birdbox right now but i don't know what she's doing in there. it's been many weeks now, i wonder if she'll get around to laying.
the crimson rosella is here every day too, sitting in the nearby liquidambar and piping his song

More eco dyeing

this time with euphorbias,

seeing if i can get anything

useable for Romeo & Juliet.
