After a decade on the Murray/Darling confluence I've moved to the Bellarine Peninsula on Pt Phillip Bay. I've been so lucky to spend time with the fabulous birdlife and animals and the river itself, not to mention the warm and friendly people of the Sunraysia. Now i'll be close to family and old friends. My new home is surrounded by the bay and wetlands so there'll be much to discover

PHEW - HOT
A VERY HIGH overnight low of 26, my poor airbnb people - they've come for a rest and i'm sure the evaporative cooler isn't working to capacity in that room. i have to get it looked at. they did have a fan but really it's not enough.
Today is hot too, i'm holed up sewing and drawing, they've headed off for an overnight stay in echuca. thank god there's a cool change on the way.
i'm looking at ways to incorporate this lovely leaf print into the book

BLOBSVILLE
I DID GET OUT to walk on the island in the morning but my camera battery was flat so my purpose of getting a shot of the variegated fairy wren was thwarted!and my day went downhill from there, post christmas fatigue. TV, a bit of reading and not much else except fluffing up the airbnb for today's arrivals.
beautiful sunrise and sunset and
a lovely still day

WILD WEATHER
WE HAD CRAZY STORMS on tuesday, wild winds and rain arrived together drenching the garden and bringing horizontal rain right in under the carport and verandah. it was short and intense, two bursts then it was over.
yesterday after thinking i'd escaped much damage i discovered a strip of lazer light roofing in the studio had been ripped off. luckily the wind had taken it after the rain stopped. good old jayden scadding and mate have fixed it for me already. thanks guys

IT'S GOING TO BE HOT
THE EVAPORATIVE COOLER IS ON and i'm battening down for two hot ones, 38 and 42 then cooling down to low 30's for my christmas drinks on wednesday, thank goodness.
i'll be drawing or making a print under the vent in the kitchen, it's the cool spot in the house. but right now it's 7am and i'm off for a walk before it heats up.
drawings from yesterday, practising on graham clarke's face and some gorgeous kids from a book called 'children of the desert', a photographic look at aboriginal kids living in nature, probably from the 70's i think.
