PAINTING AND SHOULDER STUFF

OVER THE PAST TWO WEEKS i've been painting walls when i can and dealing with my aching shoulderblade and stiff neck.  i hope managing all this physical stuff isn't going to be the way life is going to be from now on. I've been visiting the myotherapist (Phil, he's helped me before) and last Thursday he did dry needling into the sore muscles which have been making walking difficult.  Right in the ribs - the pain, not the needling.  Ouch!! Well the dry needling was horrible, nasty little shocks as he hit the knots in the muscles. I've had a week of no swimming to keep everything warm, heatpacks multiple times during the day and quite a few exercises a few times a day too. waiting to see if it makes a difference.

Here's a recap of the last two weeks in pictures, a lovely visit from sunny luke and etta for the celtic festival, a visit from isobelle this week, i'll take some pics of the painted doors and trims i've been working on. i'll do more today and see how my ribs feel.  baby steps.

created from the trunks of old cyprus pines that have 

come to the end of their time

Etta's non-stop in her creative play - this was a little procession

back and forth through the sheets on the line to collect gum

blossoms to float in a utility bin full of rainwater.  the bamboo

became a fishing rod when she discovered there were big

leaves in the bottom of the bin. then there's feeding the real fish

and finding egg shells in the garden where i've thrown the

vege scraps - etta holds them up like a golden prize :0)

WINTER SOLSTICE 

Three days ago - about twenty Salties went in at 7.30 pm to the wonderful sound of the irish drum and fire twirlers. isobelle was visiting overnight and she got some great shots of me photographing them.  i love this one because the swimmers are completely anonymous and they could be sprites emerging from the water

i started knitting this cowl for isobelle on the wonderful Hotham 

visit - she looks great in it.  we spent time with the ukulele and 

she's given me some tips so i'll have a play with it again.

PAINTING WALLS, VISITORS, SWIMMING

SWIMMING is so much better since we've had the use of the yacht club - hot showers, a kitchen, space to change inside and this wonderful balcony.                    Sadly this week Tina Turner died so the girls did a tribute 'Nutbush' in her honour

ALAN AND MERYL came to stay for three days and we had a lovely time just wandering around portarlington, having lunch at jack rabbit then next day driving across to Queenscliff and Pt Lonsdale, drinks on the terrific rooftop bar at the Vue Grande and lunch there too.  it's always great to have them stay, they're good company  

FULL MOON

THIS TINY BIRD was flitting about in the elm tree and i tried and tried to get a shot so i could identify it, but this was the best i could do.  it could be a weebill - it was really tiny

The rest of the past week i've been painting walls, almost finished the spare room, and just have trims and doors to do in the bathroom, laundry and toilet,  I've found a lovely soft orange to use on the doors

the spare room had a wall that had been pushed out from the bathroom, didn't even meet the ceiling and they just plonked a big piece of chipboard on the top. Trent has moved it back and finished it off, and now that it's painted the room looks fine

MORNING SWIMS are getting colder - i wish they were still at sunrise, time has been kept to around 6.45-7 and now the sun is up at 7.30.  water is getting colder, around 11 deg so swims aren't so long but it still feels amazing when you get out.  warm all day :0)
