MARA IS SIX

MARA'S new coat arrived in time for her birthday on the 21st.  this year is the year of her celebration, i think in november there'll be a special day when she'll dress in traditional kimono and attend a temple ceremony, like Cal did at the same age.  I was lucky to be there at the time.

WEEK THREE

THIRD OPEN INSPECTION - very busy and encouraging.  nice to know all this tidying and mopping and window cleaning is being seen :0)

windows are the main challenge, the water from the hoses splashes on the windows and it's river water so the contribution from the Darling is very milky and leaves white streaks.  and in the kitchen the frogs gather on the window outside every evening and they leave clingy gooey tracks that require a bit of scrubbing.  i'm keeping on top of it though.

this week's pics - all birds and sunsets as usual.  nothing social going on here, except a funeral today.  it'll be the first time i've seen lots of the people there in months or a couple of years.

fabulous clouds this week but no rain

every evening lately the swallows dip and
dive over the water, catching the light like
tiny sparkling stars, beautiful to watch

the sweet little striated pardalote put in a
rare appearance - through the kitchen window
I hear them up high in the trees all the time but
rarely see them

WEEK TWO

SECOND HOUSE INSPECTION LAST SATURDAY - a few individual visits during the week.  Keeping every spit spot is fine but the actual experience of having the house on the market is so tiring.

Knitting keeps me grounded and being here with the beautiful birds, river, lagoon is the best place i could be.

Pics from the past week

Great pics of rene in his gansey, taken by sayaka. she's done a wonderful job, they look like catalogue shots

I've been walking up to Thegoa Lagoon quite often

This little charmer

was in a large sheet of

plastic that i screwed up

and carried across the

yard to the bin, lucky

i didn't get bitten

first time i've had a snake INSIDE THE HOUSE!!    in the back porch.  luckily sam was nearby and he came round and killed it with a spade.

Now to figure out how the hell it got in.

OPEN INSPECTION - TICK!

 ALL LAST WEEK
i was cleaning, trolleying things out to the studio, rearranging pot plants, more cleaning!!  On Saturday the weather was perfect, warm and still, big blue skies and fluffy clouds - made to order.  a steady stream of people came while sue and derek and i had coffee with the saturday papers down on the riverbank.

hot hot hot yesterday today and tomorrow - 39 and warm nights so i'm off to the movies and aircon today.

I got a walk in yesterday, not sure about today.  The lagoon is looking wonderful

The river is looking great too

walking past the vineyards on the way back from Thegoa Lagoon, often something happening between the rows of grapevines

LAST NIGHT'S SUNSET - stunning

i'm still finding frogs inside, trying to catch them and throw them out into the garden. this little fella was lucky, many are dehydrated and dead when i find them
