After a decade on the Murray/Darling confluence I've moved to the Bellarine Peninsula on Pt Phillip Bay. I've been so lucky to spend time with the fabulous birdlife and animals and the river itself, not to mention the warm and friendly people of the Sunraysia. Now i'll be close to family and old friends. My new home is surrounded by the bay and wetlands so there'll be much to discover

MUNGO
IT WAS AN EARLY START - up at 6 to meet graham from harry nanya tours down the street at 7.45. there were only six of us on the bus and graham talked non stop all day, so we just sat back and took in stacks of information about aboriginal cultural history, land rights, mungo man and mungo lady, the ancient tales of lake mungo and the animals that used to roam here - there's no end of stories attached to this amazing place
The wonderful old
100 year old shearing
shed - all made of
natural tree trunks
and branches, beautiful
timber and the
smooth finish of
lanolin, filled with
swallows, gorgeous

EASY SATURDAY
THANK GOD sunny is here, she's been terrific, cooking, cleaning, all things i need to do. i've been able to keep my foot up and it's not feeling too bad today at all. hopefully the xray will show no fracture but i won't get my hopes up yet.
we had a long lunch at trentham estate today, it was quite cold and they had these great wraps for us, we were able to sit outside on a pretty chilly day.
While we were there Jayden the builder was here installing the cavity sliding door, i reckon he'll be finished in one more visit.

NO BLOGGING NO PHOTOS
I HAVEN'T BEEN using the camera the last few days because i stepped back off the stairs and twisted my ankle quite badly. spent the first day on the couch icing and compressing, resting and elevating. yesterday i picked up sunny at the airport for a four day stay - driving's fine. before that i got into the doc for an xray and it's possibly a fracture in my foot. i can't do anything and after hobbling around town to rent crutches and make these visits the crutches are really hurting my shoulder, i think i've given myself quite a goodshake-up. lesson to be learned, don't put your ikea flatpack together at the top of the stairs :0(
can't even make a cuppa and take it anywhere, thank goodness for sunny. it's hard to be on crutches and carry anything, and i'm not sure if i'll make it to japan in november.

WORKING WORKING
A BEAUTIFUL SUNNY DAY, warm and comfortable, perfect for working at the desk and looking out the window - birds everywhere. i've worked out the last two spreads of the book. steele and son didn't arrive to do the door, i think it's probably still en route from the deep south.

A DAY IN THE STUDIO
AN EARLY DAY - i thought it was going to be really hot so i got up at 7 and printed till 11. got an edition of 16 done!
this is one of the little
buggars who's been
pooing all over the
studio. no more, i'm
keeping them out!
sorry guys, you'll
have to build a nest
somewhere else
and steele scadding (my lawnmower man) arrived with his son to install my sliding door - surprising early but they were defeated by the size of the cavity, no doors available so they've had to order one and go home for the day. but i'm happy, at least it's getting done and my new airbnb room will be able to get up and running in a week or two
LAST NIGHT was artback barrista luke's Great Shave event, i was official photographer and it was a very funny night, much laughing :0)
